The Art of Motoring Exhibition

Dixon Riley - mixed media by Debra Wenlock

The Royal Automobile Club's annual festival of motoring, London Motor Week, embraced a brand new addition with "The Art of Motoring".

Monday 26th - Saturday 31st October 2015

The exhibition featured 'the best British motoring and motor racing artists' who displayed their latest works under the same roof for the first time in a decade.

Housed at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery at 5b Pall Mall, just a stone's throw from the RAC's Pall Mall clubhouse, over 100 original works were exhibited. The subject matter, though entirely automobile-oriented, displayed many diverse and individualist styles and media.

DeLorean Prints - Hot off the press!

Inspired by a reunion of DeLorean Motor Company former factory employees - those guys that built these iconic motor carss in Belfast back in the early 1980s! And, as this is also the year that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the film "Back to the Future"€ which features a time-travelling DMC car, my imagination summoned up three magical DeLoreans flying "Back to Belfast"€ via the Belfast famous landmark shipyard cranes €- just for fun!

Titanic Exhibition, North Down Museum, 4th April - 29th April 2012

Exhibition

I was so pleased to have been be invited to exhibit my Titanic paintings at at North Down Museum (formerly Bangor Heritage Centre) as this was the first place in Northern Ireland that I ever exhibited a painting and it won second prize in the Percy French watercolour exhibition!

I began a series of Titanic paintings back in 2002 depicting the building, launch and, in particular, the successful day of sea trials of the great White Star liner - honouring her Belfast beginnings.

I continue to celebrate the positive and optimistic period of Titanic's life and seek to reinforce awareness of the fact that she was a true maritime marvel and engineering masterpiece a century ago.

She was, is and always will be so much more than just the ship that sank!

NEW Book - I'm very excited to have three of my paintings included in a new book from the Guild of Railway Artists - "Emotions of Railway Art".
Emotions being the driving force when an artist puts brush to canvas and in this fifth fine art book by the Guild of Railway Artists, the artists have been given freedom to choose the railway themes that most fuel their imaginations.

Here they present paintings of subjects that have inspired them personally - a unique selection of paintings by some of Britain's top railway artists.

Emotions of Railway Art

At Goodwood Revival historic motor race meeting I found "Remus" - Prince Bira's ERA that competed at the 1936 Limerick Grand Prix and is featured in my painting of the race.

It was also brilliant to see the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum's McCandless four wheel drive 500cc racer out on the track, driven by Arnie Black - 58 years since it last competed at Goodwood!
